How to improve your spoken Dutch?
Practice every week with a language coach in Amsterdam
Not your mother tongue?
Do you have a basic knowledge of Dutch, but find it difficult to speak?
Speak and understand the Dutch language better.
Our coaches will help you to improve your spoken Dutch and to understand the language better. This will make it easier for you to get into contact with the Dutch people – like having a conversation at work, in a shop or at the market, with the doctor or at school – in other words everywhere.
Practice once a week
You will see your male or female coach once a week during one or two hours.
You will be talking one on one, so there are no other “pupils” present.
Duration
Usually during one year or longer if need be.
Fixed date to meet
You will arrange a date with your coach which is convenient to both of you. You will meet your coach at his/her house. If that is not possible you could arrange to meet each a different place such as a library, a park or a museum.

Examples of what coaches do.
We will invite you for an interview so that we can determine which one of our coaches will be suitable for you. Herewith some examples of our coaches.

Each week 3 parts
Fatih goes weekly for 2 hours to the house of Mennoh. The first half hour they talk with each other about general issues. The second half hour is spent on learning new words and conjugate verbs.
Read a newspaper
In the third part Fatih tries to make proper sentences. Manno and Fatih read a newspaper article together. Subsequently Fatih tries to say in his own words what the article is about.
List of all the new words
Fatih brings every week a list of all the new words he has learned.

To a museum
I went already twice to a museum with I. What I find interesting is that she reads the Dutch rather than the English text next to the paintings.
Many new words
Apparently there were many words in the text she didn’t understand. So I had a lot of explaining to do.
Only the Main Gallery
We only visited the Main Gallery in the Rijksmuseum. It was also great fun and educational for me as I had to look in greater detail.

Self confidence
During 6 or 7 years I studied Dutch, but I never dared to speak. I had not enough self confidence.
Speak with my coach
I dare to speak with my coach though. Our weekly conversations about various subjects help me a lot.
Vocabulary and grammar
My vocabulary and knowledge of the grammar has greatly improved. I always look forward to our weekly conversation.
I enjoy it.

Fun location
For example the patio of Hortus – Horticultural Gardens.
After several meetings at my house, we decided to meet at different locations. Sometimes we go to a cafeteria, or a library, the Waterlooplein, or Hortus. All these locations give us an opportunity to touch on different subjects.
Weekly meetings
We meet once a week. We find a time and place convenient to both of us through the app. These electronic conversations appear also very instructive as we both try to use the Dutch language properly.
Written text
E. usually writes a small piece which we discuss together and I correct it into proper Dutch. I admire every foreigner who tries to learn Dutch as I now realize how difficult our language is.
Talking with a language coach will improve your Dutch.
